In Spring 2006, owner Katrina Kohnle was faced with a career dilemna. She was a busy dermatology sales representative and a mother of three. Her sales territory was expanding, ” I was already spending close to seventy hours a month in a car and the thought of doubling that was overwhelming.” Add to that a husband who also has a large sales territory. We had discussed through the years that we would love to own our own business. We even made it thorough a vigorous franchise application. We just weren’t sure that a franchise was the route we wanted to take. I wanted to create a niche market!”

The Out on the Patio appointment only showroom was opened in the Spring of 2007. Out on the Patio is family owned and operated. Katrina’s children and husband not only lend their moral support but their physical skills as well. Sons Ethan, Drew and daughter Addison are on call to help with smaller deliveries and assembly. Drew has also played an important roll in the Audio visual side of the business. He helps create slide shows and other advertising for our annual Home and Garden booth and showroom.

Today in 2010, Out on the Patio offers many products and services including outdoor furniture for both residential and commercial settings, outdoor accessories, cushion replacements, tailgating supplies, in both a showroom setting and online store. Katrina continues to offer clients the one on one interaction during the ordering process at their home or in the showroom and is on site for the deliveries. “We strive to bring the best customer service and products that are possible”

Imageglow® Candles are a special, all wax hurricane lantern with artist-designed patterns embedded in the wax, through a patented process. The designs glow when illuminated.

‘Candles?’ you ask.

Yup, but these are different. Gorgeous designs that radiate with light — just look at these photos. I was so impressed when I lit the sample candle that Imageglow® sent. It’s like nothing I’ve seen in candles before. Imageglow® are a unique addition to any interior and by night they transform and take on a dramatic glowing personality.

Imageglow® Candles are a special, all wax hurricane lantern with artist-designed patterns embedded in the wax, through a patented process. The designs glow when illuminated.

You are challenged to create new Imageglow® designs!

This is a Prize Challenge! The winner will receive:

A case of six lantern-style candles in their own design! (Retail value $160.+)
Excellent HomeWorkshop.com recognition and fame.
At Imageglow®’s option, it will produce and market candles with the winner’s design!!

In that case,the winner will earn a royalty of 5% of the wholesale selling price, paid quarterly!! (So if your design is fabulous like we know it will be, you can make a little cash!!)

This will be fun! You can:

Create your original artwork by drawing, hand painting, etc., directly on the template, or on art paper cut to size using the template as a guide.
OR
Create your original design in a computer graphics program like Photoshop, Illustrator or Indesign. Do not use images that require any kind of a licensing fee.

In either case, Download the Instructions, Design Tips and Design Template Here. Designers ages 18+ please and limit of six designs may be submitted per person.

And don’t be intimidated if you are not a computer-graphic-design guru. Linda told me that some of her most beautiful designs were drawn or painted by hand.

When your design is done, upload it as a .jpg file to the Challenge Entry form here. Describe a bit about how you created the design and why you think it will be a great design for Imageglow®.

The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m Pacific Time on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. After the entry period, our judges (including Linda) will select three designs as finalists to be voted on by the HomeWorkshop.com community. Voting will go for one week after the finalists are announced. The winning design is the one with the most votes (one vote per person).

San Francisco based Imageglow® Candles will be supporting EARTH HOUR

The worldwide lights out event is designed to show individuals that they can make a difference in conserving energy and helping protect our environment. U.S. cities “officially” turning out non-essential lights for one hour are Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, and San Francisco. This will take place from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time

Imageglow® Candles are designed and marketed by Art of Navigation, Inc. – a San Francisco based company located at Pier 38 in San Francisco.

They have over fifty patterns and colors of uniquely engineered lantern style candles that have patterns embedded in the wax and glow when illuminated. The lanterns are reusable, safe non toxic and biodegradable.

the uc berkeley branch of camp kessem held its candle light advisory board and fundraising dinner at our showroom on sunday. a great dedicated group of students volunteer their time to raise money and run a free one week camp at YMCA jones gulch camp

camp kessem is a national organization – but each branch is a college student run free week-long summer camp for kids between the ages of 6 – 14 with a parent who has or has had cancer

we were so proud to have our glowing image candles shine their light on this event and are glad to be part of their fundraising activities and hope you’ll be interested in donating too
